The Immigration Law Group of the Bar of Granada, opened the 2015-2016 training course last Friday with a lecture on the process of acquiring Spanish citizenship for Sephardic people, by the Dean of the Bar Association of Melilla, and member of ICB, Blas Jesus Imbroda, an expert on the subject. In the talk, the dean of Melilla addressed the characteristics of the new Law on the granting of citizenship to Native Spanish Sephardim of Spain, which will come into force on October 1 and will remain active for a period of three years.

As Blas Jesus Imbroda explained, the new law establishes a new regulation and different procedures when getting the acquisition of nationality as well as a series of requirements which include that the applicant has a particular connection with Spain and a Sephardic origin.

In addition, Imbroda said that the Sephardim who want to obtain citizenship will have to pass two exams, one of Spanish languaje and one obout Spanish culture and society.
